So it Was All a Sham

In the past two weeks, lots of details have come out about the ethical boundaries Andrew Wakefield violated. I hate to say I told you so, but... In all seriousness though, the best synopsis of the damage such junk does to the medical and scientific community that I found was in the Wall Street Journal opinion page of all places. Dr Paul Offit, the chief of infectious diseases at the Children's hospital in Philadelphia, laid down some serious excoriation, ending with a shout-out to one of my favorite Carl Sagan quotes: "Extraordinary claims should be backed by extraordinary evidence."

In the meantime, I have stumbled upon a website (Jenny McCarthy Body Count) that tracks the amount preventable illnesses and deaths since Jenny McCarthy began her anti-vaccination advocacy campaign.
